Is my audio really private?
Yes. MacParakeet processes everything locally using the Parakeet TDT model running on your Mac's Apple Silicon. Your audio never leaves your device -- not for processing, not for analytics, not for anything.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only for initial setup to download model files. After that, MacParakeet works completely offline.
What's the difference from MacWhisper?
MacWhisper is $30 (cheaper than MacParakeet at $49) and focuses on file transcription. MacParakeet adds system-wide dictation -- press Fn anywhere on your Mac and speak. MacParakeet is also built around Parakeet from day one, while MacWhisper added it later as an option alongside Whisper.
What Mac do I need?
macOS 14.2 or later with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or M4). Intel Macs are not supported because the Parakeet model requires Metal acceleration.
Is there a subscription?

What languages are supported?
